On April 20, 1986, Michael Jordan set an NBA playoff record with 63 points against Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the first-round in a 2-OT loss.
Today marks the 30th anniversary of that moment, which is a game Larry Bird will never forget as he had this to say after the game:
“I think he’s God disguised as Michael Jordan,” Larry Bird said. “He is the most awesome player in the NBA. Today in Boston Garden, on national TV, in the playoffs, he put on one of the greatest shows of all time.”
The now iconic Air Jordan 1 was the shoes MJ wore dressed in the Bulls Red, White and Black color scheme. This Air Jordan 1 was a bit different from others as it featured special harnesses to better protect Michael Jordan’s healing foot.
