With the warm months ahead, the Asics Gel Lyte 5 receives a vibrant colorway that takes cues from the Scotch bonnet, which is also known as scotty bons, bonney peppers, or Caribbean red peppers.
Labeled as one of the hottest varieties, the model’s orange/maroon-colored upper essentially mimics the pepper’s spicy tone. Comprised of smooth suede across the majority of its composition, premium leather overlays are evident on the heel panel, across its eye stays and outlining the sides. Furthermore, the sneaker’s neoprene bootie construction features a leafy graphic to further correlate with its respective theme.
Contrasting accents of white are prominent on the signature formstripe branding across its side panels and midsole unit, while bright orange branding is embroidered on the heel tabs.
All resting atop an orange/maroon/white-colored outsole to round out and coordinate with its color scheme perfectly, you can find this pair at select Asics retailers overseas now. A stateside release is expected soon.
I’m a fan of the model’s design overall. This colorway is appealing but not particularly for my taste. It’s a solid offering nonetheless.
