After debuting the AVE 2.0 in March, Vans Skateboarding has refreshed Anthony Van Engelen’s latest signature model with an all-new mesh upper and three new colorways: “Medium Grey,” “Lavender Fog/Black” and “AVE Bench Green.”
Billed as the brand’s “most advanced skateboarding shoe ever,” the updated silhouette is the result of Vans and Van Engelen’s constant experimentation: where the first edition launched with a knit upper, these latest designs instead feature a mesh base bonded to RapidWeld™ suede and synthetic TPU for added breathability.
Additionally, the shoe features softer heel counters and more foam inside the tongue and the collar to maximize comfort. Like the initial AVE 2.0, this edition also houses the UltraCrush™ midsole with TPU midfoot support, which sits atop an outsole made with UltimateWaffle™ traction patterns and SickStick™ rubber.
“Vans and I have stayed on track with innovations over three signature shoes and ten years now. True innovation creates both a high-performance skate shoe and excitement for what’s possible in the future,” said Van Engelen. “20 years ago, skate shoes just gave the appearance of tech. Now, we’re in the future, where that technical design extends to the shoe’s performance.”
The latest batch of AVE 2.0 colorways will launch on Vans’ webstore and in select skate shops on June 13. Explore the lineup in the gallery above.
