ASICS is set to unveil an exciting collaboration with the enigmatic Japanese band, ZUTOMAYO. Centering on the ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 silhouette, the collab sees two distinct colorways tinged with neon-esque accents that pay homage to the band’s vibrant, story-driven discography as well as quirky visuals.
The release comprises two color variants which include “Black/Purple” and “White/Green.” The former arrives in a charcoal-hued makeover that envelopes both its mesh base, synthetic leather upper and outsoles. A streak of rich, deep purple highlights the sockliner, lateral label and parts of the outsole, while a hint of translucent fuchsia pink adorns the mid-section of the sole.
Exuding a palette reminiscent of Buzz Lightyear from Toy’s Story, the “White/Green” variant boasts a much more eye-catching appearance. Doused in an off-white hue, the upper features a mix of materials spanning rubber, suede and mesh. Pops of chartreuse, bright purple and magenta illuminate the shoes in the form of design details as well as functional and decorative laces. Silver “ZTMY” dubraes are perched onto the main laces, highlighting the shoe’s collaborative status.
