As NIKE, Inc. begins to deliver on several 2022 Air Jordan releases following global logistic delays, more of the company’s footwear has begun emerging via unofficial mock-ups and leaked images. The latest?: An Air Jordan 6 “Red Oreo” expected to drop on June 4th.
Deriving its current nickname from its similarities to a colorway seen in March 2010, the upcoming sneakers features “White”-speckled “University Red” detailing on the lace toggle, sports car-inspired heel clip and curved midsole accents. Matte smooth leather across the upper forgoes any colored nubuck interruptions, differentiating itself from the original Jordan 6 “Oreo” from 12 years ago. Its rather tonal arrangement, then, is more reminiscent of past “White/Varsity Red” makups than 1991’s “Carmine,” which returned in 2021 in celebration of the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. In comparison to some of its kin’s milestone birthdays, Michael Jordan’s sixth signature sneaker’s was rather uneventful, with several of its plans affected by more than one global crisis. The “Red Oreo” pair, however, has quickly garnered attention from old and new fans alike, suggesting the ice blue-bottomed shoes will more than make up for the AJ 6’s relatively quiet 2021.
While global supply chains have re-established some degree of normalcy, Nike SNKRS launches continue being re-scheduled. Therefore, enjoy early images of the retro here below, courtesy of Instagram user @zSneakerHeadz, as you wait to see if the rumored June 4th release date pans out.
