During Air Max Day 2023, Nike Sportswear brought back the popular “Big Bubble” Air Max 1 to celebrate the annual holiday. The shoe was part of the original production run in 1986, before the Air Max 1 made its debut in 1987.
For Summer 2023, the Swoosh will be releasing new colorways of the “Big Bubble” runner as we now take a look at this upcoming Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Blue Safari” makeup. It utilizes Tinker Hatfield’s iconic “Safari” print that he took inspiration from an ostrich-skin couch at a furniture store.
Dressed in a Light Smoke Grey and Diffused Blue color scheme. This offering of the Nike Air Max 1 features a mesh base with textile overlays, suede Swooshes, and safari print used on the mudguards. Signature “Nike” branding on the tongue labels, insoles, and heel embroidery with the longer visible Air unit in the heel atop an aged-like midsole and Blue rubber outsole completes the design.
Check out the official photos below, and look for the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Blue Safari” (Lost Sketch) to release on June 16th at select Nike Sportswear retailers and Nike.com. The retail price tag is set at $170 USD.
