Besides its masterful cobbling efforts — think everything from a Vibram ripple sole on a Birkenstock Boston to bespoke recreations of classics like the Air Jordan 3 and Air Max 95, plus lovingly-restored Geobaskets — LA-based Goods & Services has expanded its reach into its own made-in-LA footwear. The brand debuted two colorways of a hybrid mule earlier this year (one of which was an 18 East collaboration) and now it’s constructed a brand-new sneakerboot-style silhouette called the Day Hiker.

The mid-cut silhouette features a variety of vegetable-tanned leathers, with the majority of its real estate occupied by a shaggy, suede-like “rough out” leather. This is overlaid with a black pebbled leather mudguard and toe cap, while the collar padding is an ultra-soft vegetable-tanned lamb skin. Each vegetable-tanned piece will develop a rich, dark patina with age, wear, and UV exposure. Besides the upper’s luxe constuction, the Goods & Services Day Hiker features an EVA midsole with a hike-ready Vibram outsole and heel — and also comes equipped with multiple lace options.

“The type of leather that ages and patinas isn’t common in outdoor footwear or sneakers, moreso in work boots.” says Goods & Services founder Rory Fortune. “There’s something to be said for a shoe that, gets a ‘personalized’ patina when you go on hikes and trips.” Fortune also notes that the Day Hiker runs slightly large, so if you’re in between sizes go a half size down.

Expect the Goods & Services Day Hiker to touch down on the Goods & Services website October 29, while existing Goods & Services clients will be able to secure a pair beginning today, October 25 and email subscribers can snag one October 28. It’ll retail for $425 USD.
