For those of you who are interested in the Concepts x New Balance Rivalry Pack, the sneakers have now arrived at more retailers globally, following last week’s exclusive release at the flagship location only.

Inspired by the storied competition between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, two pairs from the footwear label’s historic archives are essentially designed to symbolize each team.

A 997 runner flaunts a full teal-colored suede upper in premium suede with a pebbled leather tongue to represent NYC, as it takes its defining colorway from the Statue of Liberty. Boston is represented with the 998, as it’s draped in rust red and green suede across the upper and pays tribute to the clay baseball diamonds around the MLB, in addition to the green facades along the historic Yawkey Way which lead into Fenway Park.

With the New York pair listed at $240 and Boston at $220, you can purchase the models at select New Balance stockists now.

Author’s Take

I’m a Yankee fan and I appreciate the collab. These models are a couple of my favorites from the brand. In terms of which looks better, I’d side with Beantown, just because I like the two-tone finish.
