James Harden Nods to His Alma Mater With the adidas Harden Vol. 9 “Sun Devils”

James Harden’s signature shoe line with adidas Basketball is at least partially responsible for the resurgence of performance basketball shoes that feature an external layer and inner bootie. It all started with the adidas Harden Vol. 7, which brought forth a new look for the brand with its puffer jacket-inspired build. Anthony Edwards’ adidas AE1 followed this with its own futuristic spin and we’ve now seen Donovan Mitchell’s latest reveal of the adidas D.O.N. Issue #7 sport its own zip-up shroud.

It’s been a couple of years since the Harden Vol. 7 first debuted and the Harden Vol. 9 carries the line onwards with its sleek linework and neoprene bootie. Harden has rocked the shoe since its reveal and was most recently spotted in a new “Sun Devils” colorway dedicated to his alma mater — Arizona State University. The new look leverages the school’s maroon and yellow colors, combining them for a flavorful finish that is rounded out by the university’s athletics pitchfork logo present at the tongue.

At the time of writing, neither James Harden nor adidas have confirmed whether or not this “Sun Devils” take on the Harden Vol. 9 will be releasing to the public. Stay tuned for updates as we expect many more colorways of the new silhouette to arrive on the market this year at its typical price point of $160 USD via adidas and select retailers.
