Back in December we found out that LeBron James became Team Nike for life as he signed a lifetime deal with the brand. There was one big detail that was left out though, how much the deal was worth. All we knew was that “ESPN believed that it “easily surpasses” the 10-year, $300 million deal that Kevin Durant signed last Summer.”

Today more details surfaced on the deal. According to Maverick Carter, LeBron’s childhood friend and business partner, the deal is worth a massive $1 billion. Carter recently sat down for an interview with GQ where he gave up the information.

How much was the deal for?
I can’t say.

Come on, Mav! Can you ballpark it?
What are people saying?

Kanye said a billion. So a billion.
[Maverick smiles and points one finger skyward.]

Holy shit.
Yeah. It’s a fantastic deal. Nike feels great about the deal. That’s the most important thing. As great as I feel, as great as LeBron feels—Nike feels fantastic about it. It’s the largest deal in the history of the company. Their hope is he makes even more. And our hope is that, too, obviously.
