These kicks are making serious waves in Australia right now. Yup—I went there, gang! Let’s dive in.
Today, we’re checking out the Mizuno Wave Rider 10 in the Black/Black Sand/Purple Haze colorway, part of the Millennium Pack. Straight away, you’ll notice those strong Y2K vibes—no surprise, since the original dropped back in 2007.
The upper features a breathable diamond-shaped mesh, layered with black and silver synthetic overlays. Lightweight and clean. On both sides, you’ll find a translucent cyber grey Runbird logo—a slick touch that pops.
Lockdown support? You’ve got it. Thanks to an internal heel counter and TPU C-strips running both medially and laterally. Out of the box, they come laced with black ovals edged in silver, adding extra contrast.
Branding hits? Check. A 3M Mizuno logo shines on the mesh tongue, while a purple, translucent heel tab adds even more flair.
But the star of the show? The Mizuno Wave Plate. Sandwiched in the EVA midsole, it doubles as a torsional bridge and shock-absorbing spring plate. Function meets futuristic form.
Underfoot, segmented podular rubber outsoles deliver grip and traction for every step.
The Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Millennium Pack feels like it stepped out of the Tokyo underground or London club scene. With its black, silver, and purple hits, it screams retro-futurism done right.
Fit-wise: they run true to size, but narrow. Wide footers? Consider half a size up.
Retail is set at $280 AUD. Available at mizuno.com.au and hypedc.com.
