New Balance’s 997 has returned to their Made in USA lineup this season, after the model was holstered for the last few years. This week, a smooth “Light Mushroom” look from the Teddy Santis-led division has surfaced, coming soon.
The 997 from New Balance is back this year, after a couple year hiatus in releases. The iconic runner, originally released in 1990, is being exclusively produced through the brand’s Made in USA program, but this year has entered the more limited Seasonal Collection. This subdivision of MiUSA is the label creative directed by Teddy Santis of ALD, which has already released a small assortment of colors so far.
The new colorway for the 997 MiUSA comes in a palette of neutral shades, a common theme among the Seasonal Collection styles. The look features a grey mesh base for the toe box, adding a mix of shaggy and regular suede panels in rich brown shades. Light tan accents appear for the TPU eyestay pieces, and just a hint of reflective silver trim for the ankles and N logos. The tongues feature unfinished, exposed foam for an added retro feel.
