Nicole McLaughlin is joining forces with HOKA for a second time. The Boulder, Colorado-based designer first linked up with the brand back in November. Together, the two delivered a fresh take on HOKA‘s Mafate THREE2 – a combination of the flagship MAFATE 2 and MAFATE 3.
McLaughlin’s first version of the Mafate THREE2 rolled out just a month after HOKA debuted the new trail shoe. The designer added a gaiter to essentially give the sneaker the high-top effect and used neon stitching to create contrast against the black base.
Ahead of her second HOKA collaboration, McLaughlin took to social media to tease photos of herself wearing the new shoe on the trails via mirror selfie.
The photos show another Mafate THREE2 in a neon yellow shade with bright red stitching and a cream sole. The designer photographed the sneaker with and without the detachable gaiter, allowing for two ways to style it.
Sans gaiter, the Mafate THREE2 appears sportier with a white line pattern and a pull-string cord rather than your typical shoelaces.
Stay tuned for updates regarding the launch of Nicole McLaughlin’s new HOKA collaboration.
