Nike is looking to simplify its road running lineup in 2025 by pulling back from the running shoe market’s confusion, chaos and cacophony of different models with a simple three-shoe, three-style system. Utilizing the three most well-known Nike Running franchises — Structure, Pegasus and Vomero — and presenting each in “Icon,” “Plus” and “Premium” iterations, the new range will offer an easy-to choose set of styles for runners, no matter if they’re looking for a low-to-the-ground racing feel or a pillowy slab of soft foam cushioning.
As seen in one of the infographics above, the Vomero is the most plush model in the line, with the softest cushioning setup and thickest midsole. The Pegasus provides a middle ground, discarding some of the pillowy feel of the Vomero for a more responsive ride that prioritizes cushioning and energy return in equal measures. For runners that need support and, well, structure, the Structure is about balance and stability, keeping the foot locked down to combat pronation/supination.
Each of these three styles has three different levels: “Icon” is the core, familiar product like the Pegasus 41 and new Vomero 18. “Plus” and “Premium,” on the other hand, offer technological upgrades for what Nike calls an “elevated” running experience (for example, the Pegasus Premium, first shown at a Nike innovation summit in Paris this past summer, will use a full-length Zoom Air unit sandwiched between two different types of foam).
“We know runners just want a shoe that feels right for their daily runs. They don’t want to overthink it,” says Marian Dougherty, Nike’s senior director of running footwear product. “That’s why we have streamlined our offerings and created clear distinction between them so runners can easily find what they need. It’s all about finding that sweet spot so runners can just lace up and hit the road.”
Two models from the Pegasus line, the Pegasus 41 and Pegasus Plus are both available now via the Nike webstore and Nike Running stockists. The Pegasus Premium is set to drop late January 2025, with the Vomero 18 following shortly therafter on February 27. The other two Vomero silhouettes and updated Structure line will release later in 2025.
