Honour the “Dream Team” with the Jordans envisioned for MJ in the ‘92 Olympics
The Jordan 7 Retro “Tinker Alternate”, dropping at sportscene on
Saturday 6 August 2016, is an unused Olympic-themed colourway and an alternate
to the original Jordan 7 Retro “Olympic” designed by storied Nike
Footwear designer Tinker Hatfield, who intended the design for Michael Jordan
to wear during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
The Barcelona Olympics in ‘92 marked the first year that professional
basketball players were allowed to compete in the Olympics, resulting in the
making of the legendary 1992 United States men’s Olympic basketball team –
hailed by journalists as the “Dream Team” and “the greatest sports team ever
assembled”. Among the celebrated NBA players chosen for the Olympic basketball
team, there was Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson and Scottie
Pippen.
The Jordan 7 Retro “Tinker Alternate” will be available
in-store only at selected sportscene stores:
