The rap scene was starting to get boring with these baby-soft rappers releasing albums. Yes, The Life of Pablo warmed up the soul when it dropped a few months back and Priddy Ugly’s You Don’t Know Me Yet has been on high rotation, but I’ve been craving something a little harder, something that KNOCKS. Drake’s Views might have sold a million in the first week but it’s as about as hard as poached eggs from Tasha’s. So in comes Skepta, Lord of the London Underground, with his highly-anticipated Konnichiwa. Now this album is HARD fam, exactly what you’d expect from the Tracksuit Mafia’s frontman.

The LP dropped a few days ago and has already been classified by many as a grime classic. The UK rapper has officially arrived onto the big stage and the beauty of it is that he has not compromised his roots and sound in the process. The lyrics are still spat with as much fury and wit as heard on his previous EP’s and LP’s. Yes, he might have enlisted a few A-listers like Pharrell Williams but Konnichiwa is still tough. Standout tracks are the title track, Ladies Hit Squad (ASAP Nast bodies the hook) and Man.

This is one album you need in your collection even if you’re not a big fan of the UK grime scene. Cop it now. Trust me Daaaaaaaddy!!
