Update: Spotted back in late January, the Stüssy x Nike LD-1000 project has finally been revealed. The 1977 runner has been presented in colorways of “Action Green” and “Phantom,” with the former combining the bright hue with black contrast while the latter sees its off-white tone accented by a light blue at the Swooshes and heel. Stüssy branding is served up at the heel and tongue tag as the classic waffle sole takes shape in off-white at the midsole and black at the outsole. A range of collaborative swim apparel is set to accompany the drop, which is scheduled for July 12 via Stüssy and Dover Street Market. Both LD-1000s will be available at a price of $110 USD each. Original Story: Stüssy and Nike are partnering up once again with a bright green colorway of the LD-1000 — a ’70s running shoe turned modern-day lifestyle silhouette surfacing. Revealed by sneaker leaker and collector Carter Wang, the collaboration offers plenty of historical precedents: the LD-1000 was one of Nike’s first hit running shoes when it was released in 1977, and Stüssy is one of Nike’s oldest collaborators, having first worked with the Swoosh on an Air Huarache in 2000.

The critical points of the two’s latest collaborative effort are its bold palette and memorable branding. Sleek uppers are made of bright green mesh, with slightly darker green suede overlays providing slight tonal contrast, and black Swooshes/heels work with white EVA foam midsoles and black waffle-patterned outsoles to finalize the look. The aforementioned branded hits arrive on the heel, where standard Nike text is replaced with a Stüssy hit, and on the tongue, which appears to display Nike’s familiar “Engineered to the exact specifications of championship athletes” in Stüssy’s signature scrawled font. (Of course, the visible “Sample” stamps on the inner heel will not appear on the final version).

A release date for this Stüssy x Nike LD-1000 has yet to be announced, but it’s not the only early-days silhouette the Swoosh is bringing back in 2024. The Field General, a 1982 football cleat, is set to return in heavily modified form via a collaboration with UNION LA.

Stay tuned for more info as it’s made available.
