We already know that Space Jam 2 is happening and the director of the movie Justin Lin wants LeBron James to be his lead man.
But what does the director of the first Space Jam, Joe Pytka, think about the sequel? Apparently he thinks it shouldn’t happen at all. Here’s what Pytka had to say about a potential Space Jam 2.
“Don’t do it. It’s doomed. Michael Jordan was the biggest star on the planet.”
Pytka is saying that LeBron is no longer the biggest star on the planet because he thinks Stephen has already surpassed James in terms of popularity. He also thinks that the supporting cast of players and former players today won’t be as good as it was back then.
“When we did Space Jam, there was a perfect storm of players and ex-players available — Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing,” says Pytka. “They all had a persona that complemented the film. There are none around like that now.”
What’s your take? Do you think Pytka makes a valid point?
