Tinker Hatfield Designs a Nike Air Max 1 for Ducks Of A Feather NFT Launch
Furthering the connection between the worlds of footwear and NFTs, Tinker Hatfield has designed a Nike (NYSE:NKE -2.52%) Air Max 1 for the launch of the Ducks Of A Feather NFT.
Tasked by Division Street founded by Phil Knight and other University of Oregon alumni, the shoe will support the release of the inaugural 120-piece “Flying Formations” collection from Ducks Of A Feather. The new NFT platform aims to empower University of Oregon student-athletes and connect them to fans, boosters and collectors.
Aside from being created by Oregon alum Tinker Hatfield and based around the Oregon Duck, owners of the NFT will receive a pair of the Nike Air Max 1 designed by Hatfield.
Turning his attention back on the AM1, which he designed back in 1987, the legendary footwear designer drew from the stories of brotherhood from Oregon football players to create a representation of the strength of the team. Tinker Hatfield dressed the shoe in shades of green with midfoot Swooshes expressing an array of colors. The shoe also features tongue logos that represent the NFT and printed insoles also done in the arrangement of colors.
“As a former Oregon student-athlete, I remember clearly the sense of brotherhood that exists within our teams and it was an honor to create a depiction of that brotherhood through the design of Flying Formations,” Hatfield said. “I have such a passion for the school and the athletes, and it’s a dream to work on something unique like this that directly supports them.”
The initial auction of the “Flying Formations” collection will take place on the Ducks Of A Feather website. It is important to note, nearly 70% of revenue from the initial auction will go to participating football team members, while 10% will go to Division Street to distribute amongst the broader roster of teams.
